Go for Houndstooth!

"There's never a new fashion but it's old" - Geoffrey Chaucer

It's seem houndstooth enjoying return to the spotlight. Satu hal yang menarik perhatian saya adalah houndstooth pattern yang kini membanjiri berbagai fashion item and become favorite print right now.

Just try it yourself with your own imagination. Kamu bisa mendapatkan banyak inspirasi dalam Gogirl! 2013 Lookbook edisi Januari. Mulai dari flare skirt, cape, varsity jacket bahkan sepatu dan trapper hat dengan adaptable check diberbagai macam gaya.

You can do the pattern with your signature style. I'm so curious how you will wear this pattern to work on your look. Just express yourself, girls.

Brastagi, Warm Up!

One of my biggest dreams is able to get arround Indonesia, and good for me to have friends who come from every beautiful corner in Indonesia. I had so many interesting stories about it. Last (year) holiday, I got a gift from my friend who lives in Brastagi, it's knitted sweater with "Brastagi" print on it. Brastagi is small town at the foot of mount Sinabung and Simbayak which famous for it's flowers, vegetables and fruits. The town has a cool climate, ranging between 17 to 20 degrees Centigrade, making a refreshing break from the heat of the city. Days are extremely pleasant while nights can be quite cool. I wanna enjoy the cool atmosphere and magnificent views in this quiet town and bring my Brastagi sweater, someday. I know Allah will grant my prayers.

Ratoeh Jaroe

It seems a year ago, since the convening of PRINGGANDANA cultural events on my college, which made me fall in love with Ratoeh Jaroe (or known as Saman dance from Nangroe Aceh Darusalam). Since that time I wish I could doing that dance and finally there came a chance, where there will be an annual saman dance competitions. Yes!

"The Saman dance is part of the cultural heritage of Aceh province in Sumatra. Boys and young men perform the dance kneeling in tight rows. Each wears costume embroidered with colourful Gayo motifs symbolizing nature and noble values. The leader leads the singing. These offer guidance and can be religious, romantic or humorous in tone. Dancers clap their hands, slap their chests, thighs and the ground, click their fingers, and sway and twist their bodies and heads in time with the shifting rhythm – in unison or alternating with the moves of opposing dancers. These movements symbolize the daily lives of the Gayo people and their natural environment. The Saman is performed to celebrate national and religious holidays." - UNESCO

For three weeks we practice until up late in the night. While all of our foot was in pain but we still enjoyed it. We prepared the costumes, made the headpiece, and everything. Also there was many problems ahead, but in the end the two teams of us can perform very well. At least we are very pleased that day. Now, I miss the moment when we make a crowd every night. It's been a wonderful experience.

"We change our dreams, but we never change our friends" - Nela

At the end of this year (last year actually), was very lucky to enjoy this small town again. The city where I spent most of my teenage years, has changed a lot. Yap anything could changed, no exception, and at the beginning of this year, I want to make a change for the better. But for sure, I do not want to change my friends.
Wearing my dad's caramel shirt, which must be oversized on me. But I felt comfy with that. Especially with pale green Converse shoes which always be there for me, hahaha. Met up with my bff, Nela, enjoying the fresh air, the memories, while trying the iconic Ronde Jago. A very fine day, to remember how our past and present. Life lessons that make people changes.
